The universe smiled broadly the day I met Gowri Motha, and after reading about The Gentle Birth Method, I knew I wanted to birth my next baby this way, my daughter had been born in a hospital where I had to fight not to have intervention, and I was set to have a homebirth this time, and ensure that there were no plausible reasons or risks that would lead to intervention. I listened daily to Gowri’s affirmations and followed Gowri’s diet, as I had Gestational Diabetes, the plan was actually very helpful, but finding a practioner here in Sydney was by far my great coup. Elizabeth Isaacs cumulative knowledge on all things natural, nutritional and birth related supported my plans, and the weekly reflexology and Creative Healing treatments were something both I, and my unborn baby looked forward too.
I missed the treatments when my postnatal sessions ended. After a wonderful labour so peaceful, I left it a little late to call the midwife, who arrived 3 mins before I breathed my baby boy into the water and into my arms. He was perfect and despite the hospital telling me that Gestational Diabetes would result in a baby too big to birth, I should expect a 10 pound baby, and to book in for a caesarean. In the back of my mind I knew I had made every effort to do the right thing by this baby, and could hear Gowri’s voice saying, “ your baby will be just the right size for your body”.
I continued to have postnatal treatments with Elizabeth for the first 6 weeks after birth, and I truly missed them when it ended.
I feel very lucky to have had Elizabeth’s support ,friendship and the gift of her experience during Caspar’s journey earthside
